About me

Career summary

I've been fascinated by human psychology ever since reading Derren Brown's book, Tricks of the Mind, aged 15.

My interest led me to study Consumer Behaviour and Marketing at university. My degree was made up of modules like Neuroscience, Issues in Rationality, Social Psychology, Politics, Economics, Research Methods, Advertising and Marketing Strategy.

Since graduating, my career has roughly followed this path:

General marketing > Copywriting > Content Writing > UX Writing / Content Design

Interests and hobbies

Futurism and technology. I'm fascinated by AI, brain-computer interfaces, VR, self-driving vehicles, and other game-changing technologies.

Writing science fiction. I'm (slowly) writing a novel about the future of brain-computer interfaces, and the impact they will have on society. The premise of the novel is "What will happen when we can control our emotions using technology?"

Buddhist philosophy and meditation. I once lived in a Buddhist meditation centre for 2.5 years (even though I wouldn't describe myself as a Buddhist). And one of the most valuable experiences of my life was going on a 10-day silent Vipassana retreat, where we had to meditate for 10 hours every day...

Effective Altruism. I'm enamoured with the Effective Altruism movement. I try to use my time and money for doing the most good for the world.

Nature. I'm a known tree hugger. I've somehow amassed over 60 house plants in my apartment / jungle.

Sports and exercise. I do a bit of this and that, ranging from calisthenics, yoga, cycling, weightlifting, archery, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (currently a blue belt).
